There is a slight change this year in that HABOT will begin in October and NOT September as it did last year. Same place, same time, same channel.

Kenny Preston in need of prayers

Thankyou for your prayers and support. The hematologist oncologist said kenny has a large cancerous tumor compressing his spinalcord. The tumor is approximately the size of 2 fists and branches out to the ribs and into the muscles. This explains him not being able to walk. He received his 1st emergency radiation treatment today to help shrink the tumor and take the pressure off his spinal cord. He will have about 15-20 radiation treatments everyday. The cancer is throughout his body and they will be looking at other organs as well. He is in a lot of pain, so we are keeping him as comfortable as we can. He has a brace to keep his spine straight. He cannot sit up or lay on his side, so that is something he will have to put up with for awhile. The tumor is so large it has made his spinal colume unstable. If he moves too much he could become paralyzed. They will start chemotherapy at some point and possibly a bone marrow transplant. If he does not respond to treatment he may only have 6 months to live. So, we need prayers prayers and more prayers. We want to thank everyone for all they have done for us it means a lot to us. I will continue to keep you updated. He is north kansas city hospital room #525.

20th Anniversary Photos

The 20th Anniversary of HABOT was held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 12:00pm to 10:00pm. It was a huge success. Bill Baldridge has provided us with some photos from the event. They can be viewed here or in our facebook page for “HABOT Club”.

Celebration of Life for Kathy Bedinger

HABOT member, Kathy Bedinger, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010. Kathy, as many of you will remember, was the lady who coordinated the bluegrass bands with Corbin Theatre in Liberty, MO. She will be sadly missed in the community. There was a celebration of life service for Kathy March 15, 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Heritage Hall, 117 W. Kansas St., Liberty, MO.

Bluegrass on the Square – Corbin Theatre

Verna Culver (Barb Hardin’s mother)

Sadly, Barbara Hardin’s mother, Verna Culver, passed away on Wednesday, Nov 25. Verna had lived with Charlie and Barb and traveled with them to many of our activities. The funeral was held Sunday, Nov 29, 2:00pm at Park Lawn Chapel in Lathrop, MO. (Click on “Read the rest of this entry” below)

After the funeral service, there was a pot luck dinner and jam session in the basement of the church. Everyone is invited to attend and bring a dish and your instruments for some jamming.
