BBQ Event Looking for Band July 29-30

From: Sean McLaughlin email: seanmclaughlin1210@gmail.com Message: Good morning. My name is Sean McLaughlin and I am organizing a fundraiser for Little Blue Bible Camp. LBBC is located just east of Independence, MO. Our main fundraising goal the last two years has been to rebuild our cabins. You can find us on facebook (Little Blue Bible Camp) or our website (www.litlebluebiblecamp.org which has been under constructin this week).

This is the second year of our event call “BBQ, Bids, Bluegrass, & BOOMS!”. We are hosting BBB&B on July 29-30. It is a BBQ cook-off and dinner, a silent auction, bluegrass performances, and a fireworks show.

I am looking for Bluegrass bands or performers who would be interested in playing at our fundraiser on Saturday, July 30th. Would you be able to help me? We have a stage area, electricity for mics or equipment, and cover in the event of rain. I’m open to discuss fees/costs; I’m not looking for handouts.

We had a couple fellas from our camp supporters come out last year, but they have decided they would rather compete in the BBQ competition this year. If you know of any amateur, semi-amateur, or even professional smokers, I’d be happy to have more competitors.

The fireworks show was put on by the Kansas City Area Pyrotechnicians club. They design awesome pyromusicals. It was a great ending to the event.

Last year’s event drew over 175 attendees. Already this year, we are having even more interest.

Let me know if you can help me out. I know I rambled in this message. My phone number is 816-517–8437.

A Note from our President

FROM OUR PRESIDENT….

Dear Habot Bluegrass Family,

We had several brave kids for our showcase of young talent and they did such a wonderful job. This takes a lot of courage and I am always impressed by them. They are so special.

We have come to the end of another Habot year and what a year it has been. We’ve had really good shows with great bands and great music, as well as sad times with the loss of some dear friends. We will miss them a lot. I always look forward to the excitement that summer brings with vacations, bluegrass festivals, and spending time with loved ones and friends, however we will miss you all. I hope you will be taking in a festival or something like it.

Don’t forget the ANTIQUE CAR, TRACTOR and ENGINE SHOW ON JUNE 16-17- 18-19 in Lathrop and then Marty
Raybon at the Wornall Road Baptist Church on June 19.

It would take too much space in the newsletter to tell everyone how much they are appreciated by the club. You know this club would not be here without your support….THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

And of course I would not be able to do any of this without the board. Each one does such a great job each month. These guys are the BEST. We all do it for the love of the music and we hope it will keep going a long time. This is a talented group.

I hope you have a fun, safe summer. I am looking forward to seeing you all in October.

Love,

Mary
