Byron Jones passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the age of 82. He was called the “King of Kansas City Country Music” and he never wanted the show to end. Byron married the love of his life, Donna Jean Gann, on October 2, 1955 and they celebrated over 57 years of marriage prior to Donna’s death May 28, 2013. Donna and Byron together operated many Country Music Shows throughout the area, but most Country Music Oprys in Richmond, Trailtown at Benjamin Ranch, and for over 25 years at the Northtowne Opry. Byron was an exceptionally hard worker and could learn anything he set his mind too. When his furnace repairman retired, he opened his own heating and cooling company. He and his family owned many various businesses throughout town, including, an Arcade, a Sign Business, and a Tax Service. He will always be loved and remembered for the countless hours he spent at the Opry preparing, managing, and performing for the enjoyment of all who attended. Byron leaves his daughter, Melody, her husband Terry; sons, Roger and his wife, Sherri, Kevin and his wife Chasity; grandchildren: Travis, Lance, Krysta, Kevin, Tara, DeLaney, Ginger along with great-grandchildren; Cheyenne and Arya.
